The Blasted Crossing

Isn’t it funny how we humans can take so much for granted, not realizing just how good we have it, then somebody comes along and points out what we’re taking for granted. We feel guilty and ashamed for a little while, maybe for a few days or a week at most, then lo and behold! We go back to doing what we used to do! We either completely forget about what we were feeling or we simply rationalize it away.

Poof! We’re back to being happy against. Oh how quickly we deceive ourselves!

I’m not saying this so I can make you feel guilty, or criticize you in any way. The reason I’m saying this is so that you will be happy! Now bear with me for a minute.

How will I feel happy after reading this you say? Go ahead, take a look around you. Do you see that? Do you see how you are living? Are you hungry? You might be a little peckish, but I doubt you are starving like some kid in a war torn country. Are you cold? Are you too hot? Are you reading this while sitting under a 45 degree (Celsius) sun afraid of some disaster striking you?

If you have kids, they might be happily playing right now, without a care in the world knowing that mom or dad is there for them in case they need you. Maybe they’re tucked into bed, already asleep, after having a nice hearty meal.

Doesn’t it feel great knowing they’re safe and happy? Don’t you feel glad that you can provide for them?

What if you don’t have kids?
Maybe you’re still waiting for that special someone. Doesn’t it feel good to know that you still have plenty of time to find that person? Sometimes, what really makes a person happiest is to know they still have opportunities, and my friend, you still have plenty!

All I ask of you is to take a few moments to look around you, and think about your life and realize just how good you have it!
